Medical Update for Evan

Evan had a doctor's appointment yesterday.

He is now 10 lbs 12.5 ounces.

What a chunk!

The doctor is referring us to Wake Forest to get a band for his head because he has plagiocephaly. We have to be cleared from hydrocephalus first. He has an MRI on July 8th. If he does not have hydrocephalus we can go get a band to help shape his head. If he does have hydrocephalus he would need a shunt and he could not have the band on his head too.

Our doc has also referred us to a pediatric urologist for his circumcision. Poor guy can't get a break.

It is so hard to believe that he is 7 months old already. WOW!

He had to have 3 shots. His big brothers were there to hold his hands through the traumatic event.

Wow! I'm behind in my blogging.

I've become a big fan of reading other people's blogs so much that I haven't updated mine.

It's gonna take me a few nights to catch up. It takes my computer a long time to add the pictures to the blog. I have so much to share.


First let me say thank you to Chad.

Thank you Chad for being such a wonderful daddy.

This is what we did for Chad for Father's Day-

Ryan wanted to give him a Toyota Tundra for Father's Day because that's what Chad has been wanting for quite some time.... and I so wish we could do that for him....the closest he got to that was a drawing of a Tundra by Ryan.

I have an everyday display from Creative Memories that I decorated for Chad and we went to Mad Platter and made him a plate. I also secretly took the boys to Portrait Innovations to get a good picture for Chad's desk at work. I so wanted to blog about my morning at the picture place because of the craziness that went on but I couldn't that day because I didn't want Chad to know we had been there. Now it's old news and I don't feel like getting into it. Anyways...the picture turned out great-I think. You can see it on the board below.

It is a cool board that has magnets and baby clothespins. Notice the masterpieces the boys did. Ryan drew the green tundra. Jack drew a J and I'm not quite sure what else and Evan decided to do his footprints.

I'm sorry that you have to drive a minivan-Chad- I know it strips away some of your masculinity but maybe one day you will get your truck. If anyone deserves one-it's you!

Feel free to can pick out any one of the trucks from this used car/truck lot. It looks like the salesman is ready to do business. He looks honest-he won't sell ya a lemon. I don't think. Maybe he will but it would be in the form of lemonade.

Thanks for grilling the steaks on Father's Day-That wasn't fair was it? Have you cook on your day? What's wrong with me?

We took steaks over to my parent's house on Father's Day and Chad grilled them. YUM!

Finally!

I WON A DOORPRIZE

I don't usually win anything but I won the doorprize at a dinner we went to last May. The doorprize was a 1 night stay at a local fancy hotel and a 50.00 gift card to 1 of the 3 restaurants that the hotel owns. These were going to expire the end of June 2008. We've had these for a year. I lost them once and then recently I relocated them and it was like I was winning them all over again. Anyways..after I won last year...life got real crazy.

Now that life has calmed down a bit...we took the opportunity to use the doorprize. My mom came and spent the night this past Friday. She looked exhausted before we even left. I was a little worried that it was going to be too much but everything went fine.

It was nice to relax and get away but I wasn't relaxed 100%..... I imagined all the chaos that could be happening at home with Grandma. Chaos wasn't happening but I still wasn't totally relaxed.

It was very nice to be able to talk to Chad without interruptions.

We got to dress all fancy( fancy for me) and walk downstairs to the hotel restaurant. After dinner, we went back upstairs and changed back into are non-fancy clothes so we could walk across the street to the shopping center.

We are big time piddlers (if that's even a word). We just like to walk around and piddle. It's funny because my mom uses the term piddle to mean -to pee-. She says, "Come on Bailey-let's go outside and piddle." Bailey being her dog. Anyways...we use the term piddle as -wondering about with no real plan in mind-whatever happens happens-

We piddled in Barnes and Noble for awhile and then walked over to the theater to see what was playing but nothing good was so we walked over to some more stores----- the stores were closing so our piddling came to an end. so sad!

We were disappointed that we couldn't go to the hotel pool b/c it closed at 8pm.

The hotel was great. I got to wear a fancy robe and sleep on fancy sheets.

They even delivered a New York Times in the morning....not the local paper.

There was a book of short stories on the bedside for us to take as well. I thought that was a neat idea.

There was a big breakfast buffet included in our stay too.

I even thought the hotel was giving me a free gift. They knocked on the door and said 'ROOM SERVICE" and I wondered 'hmmmm why are they coming here for room service-we didn't order anything?.... '

I opened the door and the guy handed me a present and said "SURPRISE!"

I said, "thank you" and shut the door. I ran with the gift down the hall to Chad very giggly thinking that 'not only are we staying here for free----the hotel is giving us a free gift.'

WHOO HOO!!!

It was not a free gift.....it was a surprise gift from Chad. Double WHO HOO!!
He brought it by the hotel earlier in the day so room service could bring it to me.

It was a new camera...can you even believe it?

Thankful for:

a thoughtful and patient and giving husband (My piddle partner-(har har har)

my mom for watching all 3 kids for almost 24 hours

Something random and silly

For those of you that grew up in the 80's do you remember Monchichi dolls? I thought I would do something random and silly since I did mention that Evan looks like a monchichi with his thumb in his mouth back at one of my weekly winners posts.

Sorry-you will have to go to the bottom of the blog and pause the music player before you reminisce about your childhood.

I certainly learned more than I ever wanted to know about these dolls from the wikipedia link. I remember the commercials and the song...I had a (wanna-be) monchichi. It was a knock off from the real thing. Never watched the cartoon...didn't know there was one. Apparently monchichi is still going strong in Japan.

Potty Trained?

Monday morning I thought we would try big boy underwear. We've been talking about potty training for awhile but just haven't acted on it since we've been busy with Evan. I also wanted to wait until it was consistently good weather so we could be outside for "accidents."
Anyways...this is our third day....accident free. Yeah-I think we are on our way. Ryan was potty trained (during the day) a month before he turned 3. Jack will be 3 at the end of June....so I am pretty happy...we might be down to one baby in diapers.

Of course, I put him in a diaper at naptime and bedtime-(I know I need to get some pull ups). Ryan was not trained at bedtime until 3 1/2. One baby step at a time.

Jack-poor guy-even gets hand me down underwear. He has a couple pair that Grandma bought just for him...BUZZ LIGHTYEAR which he loves. I told him he would get some new ones if he fills up his potty chart. He wants Diego or Handy Manny.

I took quite the risk on Monday....we went out and were out 5 hours or so. I took a towel, an extra pair of shorts, underwear, a diaper. I was ready for the worst case scenario...but to my surprise...he went when I told him to go...or when he needed to go..he told me. WHOO HOO!!!!

Fed Up!

I am hardly ever in any pictures. I scrapbook and there are lots of pictures of Daddy but what about me? I want the boys to look at their books when they are older and have pics of me to look at too. Ryan took this one for me this morning.

Jack wants so much to be like his big brother, Ryan. We went to the library today. Ryan was checking out his books with his library card and JAck threw a complete fit because he didn't have a card of his own. I tried to pretend and give him another card and he knew it wasn't right. No tricking Jack.

*To those who are worried that Evan was exposed to the sun...I didn't actually have him sit by the pool under the sun. He was in the shade, under an umbrella in the morning on a cloudy day. I put him by the pool before I took him in for his nap.

Bedtime Reading

We've been reading this book for a couple of months now. We don't read it every night that is why it is taking us so long to get through it.
I read this book in a Children's Literature course I took. I loved it and thought my boys would enjoy it. They do so far. Maybe one day we will get to the end.
